Brian Bornstein

Brian is the President and Founder of Symbiotic Partnerships Inc., Director and Officer of Symbiotic Living Inc., formerly Business Development Consultant to Buck Consultants Ltd., and formerly a Founder and Corporate Controller/Director of HR at Devtek Corporation (currently Heroux-Devtek). Brian has worked in the Bahamas for over 20 years for numerous corporate clients on their group health insurance programs.

In his roles with Symbiotic Partnerships Inc. Brian has worked with numerous national and international companies in a management consulting role; including Xerox/Buck Consultants, Allstate Benefits Inc., Manulife and Green Shield. Brian worked closely with Allstate Benefits on launching their Voluntary Critical Illness (CI) program in Canada. Symbiotic Partnerships successfully completed a 2 year assignment setting up the Western New Providence Association (WNPA) in the Bahamas.

In his role with Xerox/Buck Consultants, Brian worked with numerous national organizations including CIBC Wood Gundy and RBC DS; in collaboration with colleagues from Buck Consultants on setting up Buck's very successful IPP (Individual Pension Plan) program in Canada. In addition, Brian collaborated with various people at Xerox/Buck in setting up the Green Shield/Xerox (Buck) white labeled flexible benefits administration program. Finally, Brian also collaborated with a number of people at Xerox/Buck in setting up Manulife's global employee share ownership plan administration program.

While heading up his company BIAI (Bornstein Insurance Agency Inc.), Brian worked closely with the Wal-Mart Canada HR team when they first came to Canada. He was actively involved in the design and communication of their first modified flex plan in Canada. Including traveling across Canada to meet with Associates and holding focus group sessions, that he ran.


Jan Bornstein

Jan Bornstein

Jan brings a wealth of knowledge to Symbiotic Partnerships, through her diverse life experiences. Since graduating from the University of Western Ontario with an honours business degree, Jan has worked in various industries from the service industry to manufacturing. In the manufacturing sector Jan worked in human resources with Magna International, along with Gabriel of Canada (Stant Corperation), as Director of Human Resources. Jan also worked in the head office of Devtek Corporation in the role of Human Resource/Investor Relations for a number of years. Devtek was merged with 'Heroux' to form Heroux-Devtek.

In the service industry, Jan formed and ran a franchised gift basket company (On Occasion) that was eventually sold.
Jan continues to act as a consultant to various business ventures, lending support and counsel to many facets of the Symbiotic Companies. In collaboration with her son Erik (Toolbx/Mazenga/Symbiotic Living), she recently completed an eco-friendly, modern custom building project. 

 


Sean Bornstein

A University of New Brunswick alumnus, Sean resides in Rhode Island  where he founded SAB Solutions. A company that designs custom computer systems and servers.

For over 5 years now, Sean has also been involved in the various family businesses. He is currently the Client Coordinator and main point of contract for Symbiotic Partnerships.

While maintaining and administering the various Symbiotic websites, Sean is in the process of launching a new health care product, Solacium Organic.


Erik Bornstein

Erik’s drive for being an entrepreneur started at a young age in the construction industry; working summers and eventually full time at one of Toronto’s top home building companies.

During his time at Western University, Erik ran a successful marketing company; which taught him many important lessons especially around customer service. In order to focus more on his passion - Custom homes and construction, Erik transferred to Fanshawe College, where he attended the Construction Engineering Technology program.

After 10 years of custom home building, Erik decided to join as a partner with Mazenga Building Group. While at Mazenga, the company grew to one of the largest custom home and high end construction companies in Ontario; with over 100 employees across 5 divisions. Erik was also a co-founder of Toronto based development company, Core Development Group. After 5 successful years of growth at Mazenga and 2 years of growth at Core, Erik decided to sell his share in both companies.

Erik recently founded TOOLBX, a technology company focused on construction material procurement. TOOLBX has been venture backed by some of the worlds leading investors. Over the years it has grew over 300% and employs 40 team members. Erik is also one of the co-founders of Symbiotic Living Inc. which is a real estate development company focused on low rise developments.

Erik’s experience, large network and constant drive for success has made him an asset/resource to Symbiotic Partnerships Inc.


Leigh Bornstein

Leigh has 7 years of experience managing agile development, implementation and adoption of HR technology systems for global multinational clients. Spending time working with Unilever, Buck Consultants, Conduent, Endava and now uFlexReward. She has accomplished many on-time product deliveries, customer success and customer digital transformation; using agile change & communication methodologies. This has allowed
for successful adoption and best practices of HR systems, within multiple businesses.
